Studio Ford’s debut houseware collection emerged from an intuitive creative partnership between designer-artist Dan Bruinooge and Studio Ford’s Josie Ford. Born from a shared appreciation for material sensibility and designing with care, these jewelry boxes pair Bruinooge’s monolithic, sculptural bases with delicate silk lining handwoven and block printed by master artisans in Maheshwar, India. The interplay results in a unique balance of grounded, architectural strength and rhythmic, tactile softness, exemplifying the pair’s commitment to intentional, hand-crafted design.
Drawing from references like Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Josef Hoffmann, a traditional sari found on Josie’s first trip to India, and Pompeian frescoes, the pieces display an emphasis on total design and handcraft traditions. The palette is one of tonal restraint, softened by warmth.
The bronze hardware, hand-carved by Bruinooge and Ford, is produced through traditional lost-wax casting. The box is finished in white and black lacquer and lined with our Dot silk. Each piece is fabricated by hand in Los Angeles.
