On our latest journey to India this January, we sourced a collection of handwoven Maheshwari fabrics—light, refined, and rich with history. Woven in the town of Maheshwar, these textiles trace their origins to the visionary queen Ahilya Ma Saab, a widow who reigned with grace and purpose in ancient India. Her understated, elegant style shaped the Maheshwari weaving tradition, inspiring artisans to create airy fabrics adorned with motifs drawn from the intricate stone carvings of Maheshwar Fort.
The pillow pictured here is a modern heirloom of that legacy. Each piece is fully reversible and crafted from either handwoven Maheshwari cotton or silk, showcasing the geometric borders, delicate stripes, and architectural details that have defined this weave for centuries. A study in duality - historical yet modern, decorative yet quiet - this pillow adds a subtle sense of story and craftsmanship to any space. Sold individually but made in pairs if you wish to have two matching pillows.
