Studio Ford’s debut furniture collection emerged from an intuitive creative partnership between designer-artist Dan Bruinooge and Studio Ford’s Josie Ford. Born from a shared appreciation for material sensibility and designing with care, these lighting pieces pair Bruinooge’s monolithic, sculptural bases with delicate silk shades handwoven and block printed by master artisans in India. The interplay results in a unique balance of grounded, architectural strength and rhythmic, tactile softness, exemplifying the pair’s commitment to intentional, hand-crafted design.
Drawing from references like Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Josef Hoffmann, a traditional sari found on Josie’s first trip to India, and Pompeian frescoes, the pieces display an emphasis on total design and handcraft traditions. The palette is one of tonal restraint, softened by warmth.
All pieces are handmade in Los Angeles.
